Episode 1 recap
Welcome to the kitchen. Episode 1 opens with Ryan’s voice-over: his best friend Kyle has brought him home for Thanksgiving, and within seconds Kyle is telling him to stop staring at his mom. Lexi welcomes the pair in, announces that dinner is at 6:00 and promptly asks Ryan to help with an enormous turkey. Kyle waves him off with a warning that she’ll make him work. In the kitchen her hands are covered in butter, so Ryan is sent for her apron, and the exchange that follows is pure double entendre: butter, tight fits, and a taste test that she turns around on him in a single line. The football game rolls on next door, a voice calls Ryan over for a touchdown, and Lexi keeps him where he is. The kitchen, it turns out, is closed to everyone else until dinner. Flirty, a little silly and suggestive without going explicit.
The momentLexi’s kitchen rule closes the episode: “Nobody comes in here until dinner.” Six words that quietly cancel the football game.
