Candy AI Chat: How the AI Girlfriend Chat Works

I opened my first Candy AI chat expecting a polite “hi, how was your day.” Instead, Mila Nowak, 21, greeted me like a suspicious relative and demanded a good reason for breaking up with her sister. I was a stranger. I improvised.

That’s Candy AI chat in one sentence: you pick a character, she speaks first, and the conversation goes wherever you take it. It’s the original Candy product, the thing most people mean when they say “Candy AI girlfriend,” and it sits next to Candy Shorts rather than inside it.

Two things separate it from a bare chatbot. Every character comes with a profile, so you’re never typing into an empty box. And the chat bar can turn a moment into an image or a video, which we’ll cover below.

Candy runs chat on three tabs: Girls, Anime and Guys. This guide covers the Girls tab. The other two have their own write-ups, AI boyfriend and AI anime, and Candy sells one Premium plan for the whole platform.

Is it a chatbot? Yes. Is it a chatbot that opens with an accusation? In my case, apparently, and I respect the commitment to the bit.

The path from nothing to your first message is short. This is what I saw on October 2, 2026:

1. Make a free Candy account. It’s the entry ticket, and sign-up doesn’t ask for a card.
2. Open the Girls tab. That’s the browse page for AI girlfriend characters. It has a search box and filters, including Private Content, ethnicity options, an 18–21 age band and hair color (blonde, brunette, redhead), with more beyond those.
3. Scan the cards. Each shows a name and age. A “NEW” badge marks fresh characters, a Shorts tile means she leads a series, and a Private Content tile means she has content packs.
4. Open a character. You land in a chat that begins with her opening line.
5. Reply. Type, send, repeat.

Once you’re in, the chat bar carries “Show me the scene” buttons for Image and Video. The header has icons for Shorts, Private Content, a phone call and the profile panel. One screen, the whole Candy universe. The chat list also has a “New Group” button, so group chats exist; I haven’t run one, so I won’t pretend to know how it plays.

Spend your first ten minutes on the filters. Browsing is free, and nobody judges how long you take to choose. I once spent twenty and the app did not say a word.

Every profile lists the same eight fields: Age, Body, Ethnicity, Language, Relationship, Occupation, Hobbies and Personality. The first few tell you who she is on paper. The last few tell you how the chat will feel.

I read Personality and Hobbies first. Hobbies are conversation starters Candy hands you for free, and Personality tells you if you’re getting a sparring partner or a sweetheart. Mila’s opening line told me which one within three seconds.

If you’ve watched Candy Shorts, there’s a bonus: characters from the series are chat profiles too. Mila Nowak stars in five of them, and most series end by handing you to a chat with the lead. Every character on Candy is a fictional adult. Candy also publishes a Blocked Content Policy and Community Guidelines, if you like reading the rules before you play. I do, once, the way I read hotel fire exits.

Starting is free; the good stuff is Premium. A free account lets you start chatting, and Premium lists unlimited text messages, which tells you free chat has a ceiling. Candy doesn’t publish a message limit on its plans page, so I won’t invent a number.

Premium also includes 100 tokens a month, create-your-own character, and 18+ image and video generation. Free accounts can’t top up tokens either: the token store isn’t available to them, so extra tokens are a Premium-member thing, and I won’t guess at prices. Plans renew automatically, Candy says you can cancel any time in settings, and the charge appears as “EverAI” on your statement.

Candy runs seasonal sale banners from time to time, but the 70% off the annual plan is applied automatically, no code needed. The annual discount is applied automatically, so there’s no code to hunt for. If chat is all you want, the annual plan works out to about 13 cents a day, which is cheaper than most things I regret buying at a gas station. The full picture is on our Candy AI pricing page.

This is where Candy tries to upsell you, and I’ll admit the pitch is decent.

• Image and Video buttons. Under “Show me the scene,” you can ask for a picture or a clip of the moment you’re in. The Video option is Scene Video: a 5-second video of that exact moment for 12 tokens. Both are Premium features: on a free account they open an “Upgrade to Unlock” prompt. • Photos and voice notes. A free chat carries a banner reading “Unlimited messages — Photos, video, voice & calls — Unlock,” so treat both as Premium territory. We couldn’t verify a token cost or limit for either, so check before you rely on them.
• Phone calls. The phone icon in the header starts an AI Phone Call: a subscription feature, still in beta, at 3 tokens a minute. A free account gets “Upgrade to Unlock” instead. The details are in our AI phone calls guide.
• Live Action. Candy’s homepage promotes “Live Action” characters (a “Bree — Live Action — Play with her!” banner when I looked), which matches Premium’s “Full Live Action Experience.” I haven’t tested how it works, so I won’t describe it.

All of it draws on one pool. Your 100 monthly tokens stretch to 8 Scene Videos, or about 33 minutes of calls, or two standard Shorts series. Spend the lot on video in one evening and you’ll have an excellent night and a quiet month.

Yes, if you like conversation with a character in it, and the free account lets you find out before you spend anything.

Chat works best with something to lean on, which is why I send people to Shorts first: two free episodes, a character you already know, and a conversation that starts with context instead of a blank page. If you’d rather watch a finished story than type one, the Shorts episodes are scripted, subtitled and play like a show.

The downsides are real. The free message limit isn’t published, images, video and calls stay locked until you pay, extras spend tokens on top of Premium, and the subscription renews automatically. Pick the billing length that matches how long you’ll actually stay, and set a reminder.
