Episode 1 (59 seconds) opens with Owen congratulating himself. He took a $500 pill, it was the best decision of his life and the result feels like a superpower that only he knows about. Someone checks on him, noting that he looks ready to pass out, and he insists he’s great. Then rent comes due. A conversation with Mrs. Alvarez ends with Owen smiling a little too hard and telling her she looks really good today, which she answers by restating the Friday deadline. The scene changes to the study’s follow-up. The doctor greets Mr. Hale, notes it’s day two and tells him he can’t see through her. That last line is the hook and the series title in slow motion: everyone else is transparent, and she is the exception.
