Stepmom Summer Fling: the Candy Shorts series, reviewed

Stepmom Summer Fling Candy Shorts sends Slade to a killer beach house for summer break with his girlfriend Gretchen, where the first person he meets turns out to be her stepmom, and not at all what he pictured. Holly Donovan is 39, sporty, social and married, and she introduces herself with a joke about not looking old enough. Gretchen’s best friend Brittany joins the party, and in a few minutes the real hook arrives: Slade and the two women have met before, in a place Holly would very much like to keep secret. Episode 2 turns that secret into a deal and moves the action to the boardwalk and a Ferris wheel. Candy tags the series MILF, Stepmom, Wife and Taboo, every character is an adult, and the free episodes remain suggestive.

It has an actual hook beyond the stepmom label. The idea that Slade already knows Holly, and that she needs his silence, gives the free episodes a secret to run on and the second one a clean deal. At nearly four minutes for both episodes, it also gives you more to judge than most, and the Ferris wheel finish is a very literal cliffhanger. (A Ferris wheel is the only ride where the safety bar is the least of anyone’s worries.) Be aware that Gretchen mostly stays at the edges; the focus is firmly on Slade and Holly, so if you want an ensemble, look elsewhere.

Episode 1 (115 seconds) is the arrival at the beach house, Slade meeting Gretchen’s dad and Holly, a nervous first impression and an introduction to Brittany, ending with Holly’s very direct response to a question about whether they’ve met. Episode 2 (106 seconds) explains how they know each other, turns it into a secret with a promised reward, and ends high above the boardwalk with Holly offering to show Slade something. Suggestive and teasing, never explicit.
