What My Father's New Queen is about
My Father’s New Queen Candy Shorts trades the beach houses and hotel rooms of most of the catalog for a castle. The old king has taken a new wife who is 22, the same age as his son, and he orders the son to kneel and call her mother while the whole court laughs. That night she skips her husband’s chamber and walks into the son’s. As he unlaces her dress he finds a mark that belongs to the enemy house the kingdom has fought for ten years. She’s a spy, she says so calmly, and she hands him a choice: run and tell his father, or finish what he started. Episode 2 turns the clock on, with her brother’s army two days away and one gate she plans to open. Everyone in it is an adult, and the free episodes keep it suggestive, not explicit.
Why it works (and where it doesn’t)
Because it has an actual plot. Most Candy series give you a setup and a tease; this one gives you a spy, a deadline and a loyalty test, and the romance has to compete with all of them. Episode 2 has one of the strongest free cliffhangers I’ve come across: riders appear on the north road two days early, and the queen demands an answer on the spot. Less beach house, more battlements. (I did not expect to be invested in a siege by minute two, and yet.) The catch is the runtime: both free episodes together come to under two minutes, so you’ll know very quickly whether the genre is for you.
The free episodes
Episode 1 (51 seconds) covers the humiliating kneel, the glance across the court, the wedding-night visit, and the reveal of the enemy’s mark. Episode 2 (61 seconds) opens with the son admitting he stood outside his father’s door for an hour and told no one, then drops the stakes: her brother’s army is coming, the north gate is hers to open, and the riders are early. It ends on a demand to pick a side. Suggestive, not explicit, and the cliffhanger is a real one.
After the paywall
Three chapters remain: episodes 3, 4 and 5, at 12 tokens each, 36 in total. You’ll need Premium, but its 100 monthly tokens leave 64 to spend on a second series. Candy flags all three as New. Everything you unlock stays yours, no ads, and the series ends in a chat with the queen, so the intrigue can continue.

Verdict
My Father’s New Queen is one of the most plot-driven short series I’ve found on Candy, and its free cliffhanger is a sharp one. At 36 tokens to finish, it’s also a cheap way to try something different. Watch the two free episodes first; if you want to hear the answer to the queen’s ultimatum, that is what the 12 tokens are for.
