Episode 1 recap
A voiceover explains the street first. Candy Lane is where the husbands and dads are gone for eight hours, and the rule is simple: a flag up on the porch means the ladies need help with something. The plumber’s first stop is Harriet, his brother’s wife, who greets him with the news that the kitchen pipe is leaking again. He insists he put that fitting on tight. She suggests it must have worked itself loose, thanks him for coming, and adds that her husband isn’t exactly great with his hands. Under the sink the jokes get easier: she says his brother asked him to look in on her, he says he’s always glad to help, and the leak soaks them both. They trade teasing remarks about the mess, and the episode closes with Harriet pointing out that he’s fixed the sink and now owes her some attention. It’s suggestive from start to finish and cuts away before anything explicit.
The momentMess meets flashlight in the episode’s best exchange: “Only when someone’s holding the flashlight.” A plumbing line with no subtlety whatsoever.
