Episode 1 recap
The episode opens with Jake’s voice-over: his stepsister is Bonnie Blue, the most famous woman on the internet, and she has just turned up at the front door. Dad announces that she’s staying a few weeks and tells Jake to be nice. Bonnie asks if he’s seen her videos. He starts to say no and she stops him with a flat look, because everyone has. Jake brings up the notorious figure attached to her name; she answers deadpan, then turns it into a tease about him. He says he isn’t everyone else, and she replies that no, he lives here, which in her view makes him the exception to nothing. It’s 61 seconds of reputation-as-comedy, built around a stepbrother who stays calm and a stepsister who enjoys watching it. The episode ends with her telling him he isn’t special, and a one-word amendment.
